Rosemary McConnell Letter

Western Mail, Thursday 22 June 1933, page 14 - Letter from Rosemary McConnell to Children's Corner conducted by Aunt Mary.

A BIRTHDAY PARTY.

Green Lea, Roadside Mail, Bruce Rock
Dear Aunt Mary,-Thank you very much for the pretty birthday card. I had a party on my birthday. I invited some school friends and their parents; there were also same friends of mother's. Altogether we numbered ten, so you see we were a happy family for that afternoon. I received some very nice presents from different friends. I am sending in some puzzles which 1 have solved. I am sorry that I am late with them, but I never have time lately for I have have to do some lessons at home every night as I am working hard to win a scholarship. I don't know whether I'll win it or not, but I hope I do. Both at school and at home the seeds in my garden are coming up. At home I have helped mother to put in some vegetable seeds which are coming up. Some peas which I put in just after the first rains have nice big leaves on them, and some radishes are also growing quickly. The turnips, lettuces, beetroot and parsnips are growing more slowly. I will close now, as I can't think of any more news. I remain your loving niece,

ROSEMARY MCCONNELL.

You must have had an enjoyable party on your birthday, Rosemary.-AUNT MARY.
