Percival John Hillbrick - Gold Theft - 1909
VICTORIA. STOLEN GOLD.
Percival John Hillbrick, a miner, appeared before the city bench at Bendigo on Monday charged with being in possession of gold for which he had failed to satisfy Sergeant McKenna that he had honestly acquired. Mr. O'Halloran, on behalf of accused, who pleaded guilty, stated that his client had been made the tool of another party. He had a wife and young family to support. Hitherto he had borne an excellent character for honesty and industry, and since his arrest had proved himself thoroughly repentant. The bench, sentenced him to six weeks' imprisonment, and made an order for the payment of £6 11s. costs.
